Mike’s apartments are located on the North coast of Crete right on the beach front of Anissaras. It is 15 kilometres from Heraklion airport, 17 kilometres from Heraklion itself and 4 kilometres from Hersonissos, making it an ideal holiday location to explore the island.
Heraklion is the capital city of Crete and is also its largest and most important commercial city. A visit to Heraklion is only 15 minutes by car or bus. Here you can go shopping, visit its museums, take a walk on its ancient walls, stroll down the harbour where the Venetian fortress is located, or even visit Knossos, the oldest city in Europe.
Hersonissos is just a few minutes away from Anissaras. It is the most organized tourist resort on the island and one of the most popular holiday destinations in Greece. It has many little coves and beaches for swimming and sunbathing during the day. The shops stay open till after midnight and for those who love to party and stay up till the early hours Hersonissos is the place to be with its vivid nightlife and noisy streets.
Anissaras on the other hand, although officially a suburb of Hersonissos, is situated in a more tranquil area. It is an ideal place for those who are looking for some peace and quiet without ending up in the middle of nowhere. With its long sandy beaches, shops, restaurants and cafés, Anissaras does not lack any of the necessities that one would require when on holiday.
Mike’s apartments are located right at the beach, so anyone wishing to swim or sunbathe only has to take a few steps to reach the sea. The beach of Anissaras extends many kilometres either way and there are spots to suit every taste, from organised strips which offer sun beds and umbrellas to quiet and almost unoccupied parts. Water-sports are also offered on the beach. You can hire a jet-ski, try your luck on the “banana” or even go para-sailing.
On the grounds right beside the apartments is Captains restaurant and bar which opens from early in the morning until late at night. Here you can enjoy great meals both Greek and international. Also you can go for a coffee, ice-cream, refreshment and in the late afternoon, watch the sun go down sipping a cocktail. The sunsets at Mike’s are unbelievable. In May, June and July the sun sets in the sea, while from August onwards it goes down behind the Cretan mountains. Whichever the season, the colours will remain in your memory for many years.
Finally, also on location, is Mike’s supermarket. Here you will find everything that you need from fresh fruit and vegetables, to groceries, spirits, items for the beach and even souvenirs.
